To configure and enable rip routing on R1 follow these commands exactly.

Router#configure terminal
Enter configuration commands, one per line.  End with CNTL/Z.

R1(config)#interface fastethernet 0/0
R1(config-if)#ip address 10.0.0.1 255.0.0.0
R1(config-if)#no shutdown
